More rain

Yesterday was just dry enough to cut the practice green with the hand mower, this has just been sharpened using the demo machines. After a couple of weeks where have been unable to cut there is plenty of grass on them.

Unfortunately after a couple of drier days where the course reopened, even if it was 11 holes, we are back into the same pattern of rain. Another low pressure system coming in off the Atlantic. This brought a slow moving spell of heavy rain, 17mm in total fell today. Other showery fronts are on the way over Saturday and Sunday. But then it looks like a period of dare I say DRY weather is on the way. The dry weather is brought thanks to a blocking cold air system coming down from the North Pole. The jet stream is shifting south allowing this to reach the uk, taking the moist air with it.
This could lead to another issue for us. Great that we are going to get drier weather, but it's going to get frosty overnight. The moisture sat on and in the surface is going to freeze creating ice on top of the grass. It will also stop water draining away. Let's hope the temperatures don't plummet to far and we get back on to the course soon.
In the shed we are making great progress with machinery service. The two john Deere greens mowers are complete.
Cylinders and bottom blades ground and all moving parts greased.
On to the tees and surrounds mower
