8th green drain

Today we started installing an open drain to the rear of the 8th green. There is a low lying area which collects water after heavy rain and sometimes after heavy irrigation. This continual saturation of the soil is effecting the health of the grass in that particular area of the green.
Installation is fairly simple, a pond is around 15 meters away so a trench is being dug by hand to run the water from the open drain into the pond.
Levels are taken regularly to insure fall is consistent.
We had a lot of rain on Monday night into Tuesday which meant the course was saturated on Tuesday morning and unfortunately had to be closed for the day after a number of reviews. This is the first full day this year we have been closed for rain which is testament to the drainage works we have done over the years. Still a lot more to do, some of which will be started in the new year.
