We had the Scarborough and District Alliance on Saturday, which was on a day of heavy showers and overnight rain. Will had a difficult job ensuring play ran continuously although wet in the morning. Will and my self would like to thank Colin Webster, Rich Brown and Dennis Leng for helping check the course once play had started, along with Will they removed any further standing water while we had showers of rain in the morning.
Yesterday we started solid ting the greens to a depth of 250mm, 19-27 greens were completed and a further 3 done on 10-18. This will help remove water from the surface as the greens are becoming very wet following all the rain we have had this year.
All the areas of turf we lifted to do alterations on the greens were hand rolled to help them settle back down and start to recover. These areas will be top dressed again this week. The tees are also being divoted with root zone only. All ropes and hoops are now out around greens and tees to protect the wet areas from damage from foot and machinery traffic.
